8 more Nigerians to face execution in Indonesia - Diaspora group

8 more Nigerians are reportedly waiting to be executed in Indonesia. This is according to the United Nigerians in Diaspora, a group of Nigerians living outside the country.

The group at a press conference in Lagos yesterday May 5th, gave the names of Nigerians waiting to be executed as Michael Titus Igwe, Kingsley Okonkwo, Uchenna Onyewuru, Eugene Ape, Hunphery Ejike, Obinna Nwajiagu, Benjamin Onuoha and Ikenna Abanukwu.

A 19-year-old suspected internet fraudster Ojosipe Adebayo, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice A.O Ipaye of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja on a two- count -charge bordering on possession of a document containing false pretences and forgery.
The defendant is allegedly a member of a syndicate of internet fraudsters that specialize in using fake cheques and scam mails to defraud unsuspecting victims.

Soyinka denies blasting the Igbos, says whoever believes he did is a moron

Professor Wole Soyinka has released a statement denying reports that he trashed the Igbos during his lecture at Harvard University last week. Soyinka was quoted to have said 'the Igbos voted based on their stomach and suffer from incurable money mindedness'. The Nobel Laureate says he never made a statement like that and anyone who believes he did is a moron. Lol. His statement below...

Four men who beat Afghan woman to death sentenced to death

Remember the Afghan woman, Farkhunda, who was beaten to death by a brutal mob after being falsely accused of burning a Koran? An Afghan court this morning Wednesday May 6th convicted and sentenced four men to death for their role in her death.
The sentences were part of a trial of 49 suspects, including 19 police officers, over the March 19 killing of 27-year-old woman named Farkhunda who was beaten to death in a frenzied attack sparked by a bogus accusation that she had burned a copy of the Quran.
The trial, which began Saturday, only involved two full days of court proceedings — an unusual swiftness in the slow-moving Afghan judicial system. It was broadcast live on national television, reflecting huge public interest in the case.

40 migrants drown in latest Mediterranean accident

40 migrants, mostly Africans and Syrians, drowned after a boat carrying them to Italy deflated in the Mediterranean sea on Sunday May 3rd. This comes few weeks after over 700 migrants drowned in the Mediterranean sea, a situation described as the worst massacre ever seen in the Mediterranean.
According to international aid organization, Save the Children, survivors from the incident said they were 137 onboard the boat and as they got to Sicily in Italy, their boat deflated. Some of the boat occupants who could not swim, jumped into the sea and drowned.

34-year-old entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian had a book signing at a Barnes & Noble in New York City on Tuesday for her new photography hardcover titled Selfish but she reportedly had selfies banned at the event. The new book features over 400 pages of selfies she's taken for nearly 10 years.

She placed the ban because she said she didn't want her awesome fans taking their own self-taken snapshots while plugging the new hardcover.

Buhari meets with a journalist he jailed when he was a military leader

President-elect Gen Buhari met with Mr Tunde Thompson, one of the journalists he jailed for disobeying Decree 4 during his administration in 1984. Decree 4 was enacted by Gen Buhari to checkmate the authenticity of press reports, a policy many believed was against the freedom of speech. Both men met at a media parley the president elect had with his media campaign team in Abuja yesterday May 5th. Mr Thompson now works with Gen Buhari's media team. Gen Buhari told him that jailing him, at that time was one of the challenges of his administration then. He appreciated his media team for carrying out a decent campaign for him during the election

Finding myself at 30, at least that is what I’ll call it. In a few weeks, I‘ll be hitting the big 3-0. *sigh. The thought alone is making me depressed and unhappy. I have what many would call a great life; wonderful husband, two beautiful kids and a great job. You see here lies the problem, I have all this but I was not fulfilled, I felt I had not really achieved my goals. Life is funny isn’t it and it just takes a dramatic turn when we least expect it to.

Lagos spends N535m as WAEC registration fees

The story has it that the man came to the river to swim as usual. After washing his machine, and was about to enter the water to swim, a young lady followed him. As he noticed the presence of the lady, he called her and made some advances to her. One thing led to another both of them started romancing each other in the water. According to an eye witness who narrated the incident to me said that as the romancing was going on, both of them dived into the river at same time and could not be seen again.

Lawsuit filed against Manny Pacquiao for not reporting shoulder injury before Vegas fight

Lol. Some people are jobless sha! Boxer Manny Pacquiao and his fight promoters have been hit with a class action lawsuit by people who claim he screwed fans, Pay-per-view buyers and gamblers out of serious money by not disclosing his shoulder injury before the Mayweather fight, TMZ reports.
TMZ Sports has obtained the lawsuit filed in federal court in Nevada ... in which Stephane Vanel and Kami Rahbaran are suing on behalf of a class that feel cheated. 
In the suit,  Vanel and Rahbaran claim they are fighting "on behalf of all persons who purchased tickets; purchased the pay-per-view event; or who wagered money on the event." The plaintiffs are suing Pacquiao, Bob Arum, Top Rank Boxing and others for consumer fraud -- and they're demanding at least $5million in damages.

Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka has described the Igbos as people who can be predicted when it comes to voting. According to him, the Igbos vote based on their stomach and have an incurable money mindedness. Prof. Soyinka said this while delivering a lecture titled 'Predicting Nigeria, Electoral Ironies’ at Harvard University Hutchins Centre for African and African American Research", in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
"Igbos remained unrepentant and resolute towards their strategic objective of secession at worst; or a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction at best,” he said at the lecture which held on April 29.

He trekked for four days from Hadejia to Dutse the state capital with a distance of over 200km to congratulate the governor for what he says is the governor's laudable achievements. Tizeti, a leading wireless Internet service provider, today announced the general availability of its US IP Address over Wifi service in Lagos, Nigeria. Nigerians can now browse and stream content previously not available to them at an introductory price of 2,500 a month.

Charlie Hebdo to be honored in New York under tight security

The French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, targeted in a deadly attack earlier this year by Islamist gunmen, will be honored on Tuesday at a New York gala under heavy security, organizers said.

Passengers in a commercial bus were badly burnt this afternoon when the fuel stored in a keg at the back of the vehicle exploded due to heat. The danfo bus caught first after it turned at Chevron Roundabout in Lekki, Lagos. Immediately the bus caught fire, passengers in the vehicle started struggling out of the bus but the ones at the back weren't so lucky as they were badly burnt in the explosion. This is so sad! Chris Brown denies Vegas basketball brawl, explains what happened

Yesterday, the Las Vegas police department released a statement saying a man accused Chris Brown of assaulting him during a pick-up basketball game inside his hotel suite. The man claimed he was playing basketball at the Palms Casino Resort when a verbal altercation led to a physical fight between himself, Chris Brown and another person. Chris has released a statement saying its not true
"Chris is currently in Las Vegas as he is performing at Drais on May 5 and receiving a Key to the Strip that day as well."
"He has a suite at the hotel that has a basketball court and invited friends to come play. An unruly individual showed up uninvited and was removed from the premises. Chris was not in an altercation with this person." the statement read.
He has a basketball court in his suite! Choi! The investigation is ongoing.
